graduates with traction

Scotland goes first. The Scottish Premiership opens on August 1, 2026 (the first top flight of the British season to start) and runs to May 16, 2027. Twelve teams contest it, the most compact top division in our coverage, and the early start means competitive British football exists a full three weeks before the Premier League's opening round on August 21–22. That head start is the league's defining structural fact from where we sit: while most of the continent warms up, Scotland is producing final whistles, final statistics and settled results. This preview adds nothing it cannot verify: no form guides carried over, no assumed hierarchy, no invented subplots. Twelve clubs, a fixed calendar from August 1 to May 16, and a first-mover position on the British calendar: that is the verified season, and it is enough to open a page on.

The Scottish Premiership opens on MatchdaySync as a hub (fixtures, results and its place in the league directory) with full matchday projections reserved at launch for the Premier League, the Champions League and MLS. Hubs graduate as traction builds; the path is the same for every league in the directory, and we would rather name the tier than blur it. Site-wide, the measurement never varies: six markets per projected match (throw-ins over 30.5, fouls over 18.5, corners over 7.5, shots on target over 6.5, goals over 1.5 and goals over 0.5) graded against final match statistics and published as hits and misses with the misses left in. A twelve-team league is a tight, legible sample, and the first British data of the season starts here.

The verified season, in brief

Confirmed facts
  • Season runs August 1, 2026 to May 16, 2027
  • 12 teams contest the top flight
  • First top flight of the British season to start
  • MatchdaySync coverage: hub at launch; full projections as traction builds

Every ledger on MatchdaySync starts 2026-27 at zero. The 2026 World Cup record (396 of 528 lines hit, 75.0% across 88 projected matches) is closed and archived at /accuracy, audited line by line, and it stays in the archive where finished records belong. The club season neither inherits it nor answers for it. From the first fixtures on August 1 to the final round on May 16, 2027, the Scottish Premiership hub carries the verified season as it happens, and if projections open here, the count will be built the slow way, in public, from nothing.
